Italian conductor Valentina Peleggi serves as Assistant Conductor of the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra, the director of the International Festival 150 Firenze Capitale, and is the director of the University Choir of Florence. In 2014 she was awarded the Sao Paolo Symphony Orchestra’s Festival International do Inverno Campos do Jordao Conducting Prize, a one month conducting assistantship with the orchestra.
Valentina has also conducted the the Orchestra Regional Toscana (Siena, Italy), the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (Porto Alegre, Brazil), and with Univeristy Choir of Florence at the Festival Internazionale di Cori Universitari “Unincanto” (Firenze, Italy).
Valentina’s professional experience ranges into the operatic field, having assisted conductors Gianluigi Gelmetti and Bruno Campanella in productions across Italy, in Paris, and at the Chicago Lyric Opera. Her academic achievements are numerous, having graduated with distinction both from the Conservatorio Santa Cecila in Rome and from the Royal Academy in London where she was twice named a Gordon Foundation Winner and awarded several prizes, including the Ernest Read Conducting Prize.
